Women’s Health: Health & Self-Care
Women’s health and self-care are interconnected, but often times, we forget about the self-care part & the importance of it. Making time and prioritizing self-care can positively impact both physical health & mental health. We have become so busy doing all the things, that we don’t take time to rest.
So here are a few easy was of how we can prioritize self-care and improve both mental health & physical health:
Rest: Do we even really know what this actually means? Or even self-care? Self-care is not the bubble baths or the lighting a nice candle, or buying something nice for ourself, but it is actually taking the time to check in with our body to see what it actually needs. Self-care also means resting.
Taking a break: Being mindful about what you are doing. Self-care can mean any of these things: making sure that you are getting the necessary food and water intake, our bodies need this to survive, rest (this means actually taking time to rest whether that’s have a nap, sit down and read a book, surround yourself with the comfort of your supports, to pay attention to what our bodies need- practicing some mindfulness.
Mindfulness: Here is a great chance to check in with your body. What do you notice, what are you feeling, what is your body trying to tell you? Paying attention to your physical sensations can help with practicing self-awareness and taking note of what your body needs. Does it perhaps need a massage or do you need to pay attention to that ongoing headache you have had for the last few days? By checking in with our body & being mindful, it can lead to a deeper understanding & awareness of what our body needs.
If you are looking for an excuse to clear your schedule for the day and take an entire day to practice self -are, then look no further. Have a self-care day filled with all the things you love & all the things that refuel your soul!
